Our story
Czech Archives was founded in 2015 by historian Lukáš Cvrček, who had previously left the academic institute where he worked due to disagreements with the management. In similar circumstances, he was joined by historian and political scientist Pavel Fabini in 2018, but researchers from other institutes have also had unpleasant experiences with hierarchical and over-bureaucratised environments. This gradually formed the core of the first Czech private research institution, built on free collaboration, creativity and equality.
Today, our company brings together experts from many fields. Our projects involve people working in history, art history, archives, ethnography, religious studies, palaeography, anthropology, genealogy, literature and political science. We work with curators, artists, printmakers, film directors and lecturers. This allows us to carry out projects with overlaps between disciplines.
Our main emphasis is on historical research and working with sources that we let speak. In doing so, we help today's society to discover its real history, its roots. We are convinced that those who do not know their past are condemned to relive it, and this famous quote applies to individuals and nations as well as to the entire human community.
We are a team not only of experts, but above all of enthusiasts. We each have our own hobbies, interests or favourite topics, but we share a desire to discover and share the results of our research with the public. Together, we help cities, towns, municipalities, companies, families and individuals learn about their past. And to tell these stories, whether in the form of exhibitions, professional and popular publications, family trees, public lectures or guided walks.
We'd love to help you discover your story as well. Just contact us for a no-obligation consultation. Of course, complete discretion is also part of our service. We will not disclose our customers' identity or subject of interest to anyone without their express permission.
